Symptoms of Feline Tumors

Feline tumors develop in many parts of a cat’s body.  Sometimes they feel like a lump or swelling on, or possibly under the skin.  Tumors that are noticeable alert the pet owner to a problem.  Tumors that develop inside the body cannot be felt, thus their presence is unknown and they may go unnoticed until it is too late, or drastic treatment measures are required to save the life of the cat.

Warning signs of a cat suffering from the development of a tumor can often be observed through changes in their bodily functions and activity level, as well as, eating and sleeping habits.  Several of these symptoms can be very noticeable and others, perhaps less obvious.  As a tumor grows, many factors signal a health problem.  Outward signs range from a noticeable drop in a cat’s activity level and bodily functions to changes in eating and sleeping habits.

Some factors indicating the presence of a tumor include:

  • Bleeding or Discharge
  • Chronic Coughing
  • Diarrhea
  • Difficulty Eating
  • Difficulty Swallowing
  • Distended Abdomen
  • Inappetance
  • Lethargy
  • Odorous Breath
  • Trouble Urinating
  • Vomiting
  • Weight Loss
Any time a cat’s owner feels a lump or mass on their cat, it is time to seek prompt veterinary care.  Several treatment methods are currently available, including medication therapy, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and surgical removal.  Research in the field of feline tumors is ongoing with new methods being tested and put into practice all the time.  Advancement in the field of natural alternatives is also being made.  Some natural products are recommended for use in conjunction with conventional methods to treat feline tumors.
